In Afghanistan, Danish soldier Jacob Panton was hit by a grenade, and shot five times by a sniper.
He died on the operating table. Miraculously, however, he was revived. Unfortunately, he barely survived his last patrol in Afghanistan due to a Taliban attack.
At home, a tough battle awaits Jacob, his wife Charlotte, and daughter Dina. The now former tank commander is so badly wounded that he cannot return to his comrades in the Armed Forces. He suffers from loss of identity and from frustration at how poorly the system takes care of wounded soldiers. He slowly finds new meaning in life. His new project is to help other wounded veterans return to a tolerable life.
‘The Dead Soldier’ tells Jacob Panton’s dramatic story of how war can change everything, and how incredibly difficult it can be to return home.
